Converting Clearview models to FMS

Is there a way to convert a clearview model to an FMS model, or does one have to completely rebuild one for FMS? :?:

There is always a way, but the path to getting there may be more work than you care for.

One way is to open the CV 3D model in AC3D and export it as a LightWave Object .lwo file or another format that Metasequoia LE can "insert". Convert the image map file to a .bmp file. Then "insert" the .lwo file into a new Metasequoia LE model and save the .mqo file. Then save as a DirectX modelname.x file as usual for FMS. That will give you the 3D model. The image map may not come across with this method so you will need to remap the model.

You will have to create a .par file for the FMS model and do not forget the other files needed light the modelname.wav sound file, the modelname_prv.jpg preview file, the modelname.bmp image map file and of course a modelname_readme.txt file for information purposes to capture the original authors information.

It's also quite wise to get permission from the author to convert a model, even for personal use and especially if you are going to share.

As I said, it is a lot of work, but can be done. There may be another converter of some kind out there that will convert an AC3D model to a MetaLE model, but you will have to go searching for it.
