Newbie Needs Help - Models

Hi there, at 71 I know I am a bit late coming into FMS, but I have and have found it both rewarding and exciting too. But I have only the few Models I found with the download and the scenery too, which is very good indeed. I want to obtain a few more models and perhaps some different scenery only I do not know where to find either of these.
I was particularly taken with the Curtiss with floats for sea work, though I was hoping too to maybe find a Helicopter with floats if such exists in FMS. I did find some models and downloaded them, they were FMS models but when I opened them after downloading them, they stopped the program running when I opened them. Can anyone advise me? I would appreciate any help you can give me on this. Thank you.
