Some Tweaks

Some Tweaks

Just thought I would record a couple of tweaks to par8 files I have been working on in case someone finds them helpful.

The first relates to the tendency of trike undercarriaged planes to tilt over if you try to turn them on the runway. Try moving all the wheels out beyond the illustration's wheel images. In particular, get the nose wheel moved forward. Then lower the coeff of friction transverse direction to allow for side slip. This is often 0.7. I made mine 0.3. These mods allowed for taxiing turns without tipovers.

The second problem was that the plane didn't want to take off and when given big up elev, it leapt into the air and climbed steeply. After much fiddling with things like attack angle, I found that altering the height of the nose wheel was the best solution. Lifting the nose just a little made all the difference to the take off behaviour.

Hope this is useful to someone!
