model disappears after editing .par file.

I have been trying to edit a .par file. I edit the file and save it with a different file name. I then use Model > Load... to choose the new file. However, the model image disappears. I seem to be able to fly it, as the view pans across the terrain when I add throttle, but no image of the model.
I also notice when I am selecting the model in the model selection dialog box, unlike other standard model files, there is no preview of the image.

I have tried many different editors: Notepad, TextPad, Par-Designer, Par-Editor. They all have the same effect.
I have tried saving as unicode, UTF-8, Unicode Big Endian, Dos, Unix, and Mac files, with no success.

Does anyone have a helpful suggestion?

If you save the .par with a different file name, you must copy all the other FMS model files to the new name also. Or just save the original .par as a .bak and do NOT rename the original .par file.

Yes, in hindsight, of course. I didn't notice that there were a bunch of files with semi-matched file names. Silly me.
