FMS model file compilations?

I've read in another message somewhere about someone receiving a CD-ROM containing hundreds of FMS model files when he purchased used items from another individual. If this is a public domain compilation of public domain files, why isn't something like it available as a Bittorrent ISO? (Yes, Bittorrent has all kinds of perfectly LEGAL uses like downloading Linux releases and other large PD files). Instead, these FMS model files are spread all over the web.

www.rc-sim.de seems to have been a major repository for these files, but their download section is down right now. Anyway, there's no need to maintain such a site requiring someone to subsidize the cost of the download bandwidth when a compilation of all of currently available PD FMS files could be distributed legally via Bittorrent as an ISO at no cost to anyone.

Is there some factor I don't know about that prevents this?

Because the veiouse models are/were created by versiouse
indiviuals. To do it properly you still must optain permission
from the veriouse auther of the model...it's hit and miss.
Some people still wants rights to them even thou it's in public
domain. This will prevent the product from being sold or distributed
by someone that can make millions off of the product.
Others, such as myself don't mind.

And can you still get a hold of some of these poeple ?

well..knowlege is power..and not everyone is aware the FMS
and many other products are FREE or where to get then for free.
Yes, in this day and age there's still people that's not interested
in the web or PC.

For some people this is the first time they've actaully touch a PC.

example..I've had never heard of Bittorent.

I don't imagine there's a FMS police that's going scaning through
bittorent to see if people are downloading and uploading files.

it's the same thing as Equirectangular panorama..that you can use
for FMS.
I know where to get for FREE...there's thousands on Flicker,
It's public domian..but you must read all of the liciences
or rights people have for them.


mmm...i havn't loaded up them here on FMS .
well..becuase i'm too lazy to send emails to all of those people.lol

Some poeple host thier own site and create models for FMS that
you can download for FREE...but they want you to download it
from their site and not through RC-SIM , Bittottorent, or any other
site.....
mmmm , revenue or advertizing...you know what I'm saying.

Ah, I can understand how some FMS model file authors who have their own web sites would want the files downloaded from their site. That is what prevents a legitimate ISO distribution of ALL model files and obtaining permissions to include some other files in the collection could be extremely difficult.
