Newbie Question - What are Standards?

I was wondering... what are the standard joystick configurations. The chinese documentation, I believe, has the joysticks reversed. Another part of the documentation shows them the way I think it should be.

Left Stick Forward - Add Power and Up direction
Left Stick Back - Less power and down direction.
Left Stick Right - Tail moves left
Left Stick Left - Tail moves right

Right Stick Forward - move forwards
Right Stick Back - move backwards
Right Stick Right - roll right
Right Stick Left - roll left

Is this correct for 4 channel? I want to learn correctly from the start.

Starting with the basics, I assume you're talking about helicopters.....the terminology doesn't make a lot of sense for planes.

If so then what you have described is one standard, called Mode 2, which is common in many parts of the world. There are other "standards".
