Making WAVs? - Best way to get sounds

I haven't found many engine sound recordings on the web though I think there are a few CDs for sale! If the sounds are used then you will get regular beats as the sound file loops. I was wondering if there is a way of synthesising the sound, i.e. creating the sound from a series of frequencies that are stored in the file as complete cycles to prevent beating.

SoundForge works pretty good for making loops. there are many other wav editors that can accomplish the same thing.

I'm trying to get a decent engine sound on a twin. I have the sound of a multi-engined aircraft but the sound becomes very unpleasant when the throttle is fully applied. I tried the engine noise from Jim Flint's Typhoon which sounds OK across the throttle range on the Typhoon model and when I used it for the twin it was very different. So does FMS do a 3D sound effect at each engine position so you get beating effect? Is there away around this (appart from setting a single engine?)
