Latest version = XP won't run = generates win error report

Hi new to FMS, just bought ESKY controller + this sim. running XP with 160gb p4 + 512ddr. Installed from cd = no run - just sends eror report to microsoft! Tried down load from this site =same error. tried FAQ but the only solution (run as...) does not give you the option to turn off "run as windows 9x" - This must be because it is a later vaesion than the fms beta 7 -- any solutions?? Why not try the latest ? Use the filter feature.

I'm getting the same error. FMS does not start. Windows generates an error report and thats it.
Please help.

Is it the kernal32 error? This error is caused by not having a com port enabled. Enabling a com port certainly fixed my startup crash.

To all:

Indeed this is a COM port issue. The problem arises with all those new computers that do not have neither serial nor parallel ports (I've solved it after installing Virtual Serial Port Driver XP 5.1 @ $99.95 USD). Do we have a cheaper option (maybe a DLL that solves this problem)?
