yup tinkering if the best way to figure them out. gives you the best understanding of what things do.
what i usually do, is copy the models folder, and then experiment with settings, on the copy.
When i dont understand what a certain setting does, I'll leave par editor open, and change just that perticular setting a little bit, maybe +.01 the first time, run FMS see what happens, then maybe -.01 the next time, if i cant see a difference, then I'll go extreme on the change +2.0, -2.0, then I'll say, "Whoa!, Ok, I see what that does now.", and tweek from there.
