Georg Gerdes made a nice A-10 Warthog model. It's on the rc-sim.de web site at:

You can edit the .par file to more closely approximate your actual A-10 model.

Of course if you wait long enough, someone might update Georg's model to become the GWS A-10 Warthog. :D

Model: A10 Warthog
Author: Georg Gerdes
Created: November 2001
Update: September 2005

Notes: The Warthog is such a cool airplane and GWS brought a very nice rendition to the market at a reasonable price. This one is the Desert camoflage coloring which looks great!

I tweaked Georg's 3-D model a bit to make it more closely resemble the GWS version of the Warthog. I then used the desert camo images from the GWS manual for the image map. I also simplified the motor area to look more like a GWS EDF-55.

I created a new .par file for the model that flies fairly slowly but has great handling. Hope you like the model.

Thanks Gary, this looks awesome...but I have a problem....nothing works, when I advance the throttle, nothing happens. I also have this problem with other FMS planes. There's probably a simple fix for this I don't know about...hope you can help me out, this looks amazing!!!

Perhaps you're not running the latest version of FMS. FMS 2 alpha 8.5 will fly both beta 7 and alpha 8 models. If you try to fiy an alpha 8 model in beta 7, it just sits there and doesn't move.

I just gotta say that this GWS A-10 is awsome and fun to fly, but one minor problem, it goes crazy when it crashes, i have seen this before in only one other game, and that is Robot Arena 2 which uses the Havoc Physics engine, is this the same PE as in FMS?

Nope, the crash physics are built into the program. It's somewhat related to the force of the crash and the metadata for the collision points and landing gear.

You can also turn off the simulation after crashing under the menu item for FMS called <Simulation> <Options> then unclick the check box for "[_] Simulation after crash".

Ok, to Ggunners, if you are the author of the GWS A-10, I must compliment you on making my fave model for FMS so far, and not to downtrod your textures for the model, but I did some "revamping" of the texture map in photoshop, and this is what I have so far, hope you approve, cudos on a real nice model!

Decals are still being worked on

RightcoastRC,

Looks like you've been busy. Love the dark green one.

We have to thank Georg Gerdes for this 3D rendering though, I only tweaked his model a bit and created the .par file.

Keep 'em flyin'.

well, I thank George for the wonderful 3D model, and if you have any pointers for addons to the texture maps, please feel free to let me know, I love doing these textures, it adds to my 10 years of Graphic Design and lets me do something new!

(Im thinking that the grey one needs something like a shark mouth on the front)

This is a really nice looking model. Can anything be done about the landing gear?

I'm new to the FMS thing.

Thanks,
Daeoin

Yea, that landing gear isn't very macho!!

Took me several goes to get it down in one piece - glides like an empty gin bottle!! But it is another skill set to learn. Thanks, Gary.

Gldes MUCH better with 1/2 throttle!
