Also, when starting out, I can make the following suggestions:
1. Begin with the throttle all the way down.
2. use the Tail control to spin the heli until it's facing away from you and keep it that way. This causes left/right (pitch), and forward/back (nick) controls to maintain 'normal' orientation with your controller, whether radio or joystick.
3. Increase throtle very slowly until heli just clears the ground, then lower again. Do this until you can make it go straight up and down, .ie no tilting forward/back or left/right.
4. Once you can do this you're ready to try to hover, which again you want to do just off of the ground a few inches. Play with the throttle until the heli is stable, then practice (very gently) moving forward/back and left/right without having the heli 'turn' at all.
5. After this, try turning the heli away from you and repeat all above to get used to reverse orientation.
