It all depends on:
what type of PC you are using, laptop or desktop.
what speed the processor is in it.
if you have a desktop, what graphic card you have.
What operating system you have installed.
what version of FMS you have
what settings you have changed in FMS.
If you are using a modern laptop, or a desktop with a graphic card, start FMS, Mouse to the top left corner of the screen and select "Graphics card".
if nothing changes, you don't have a compatible graphics card in your computer. The only way you can run FMS without one is in a very low resolution mode. You will probably also need to turn off all the shading and texturing features.
I run mine on an old 600 MHz PIII with a built-in Intel graphic adapter. The operating system is Win.XP. I can use 1280 x 1024 resolution with all the texturing and shading turned on and I have no problems.
