futaba challenger - need help

I have a futaba challenger TX with a six pin buddy port, It is not a computer radio so gives a PCM signal, Can I use this for FMS and if so how do I make the connection.
Can anyone please help me as using the keyboard is realy bugging me.

Are you sure it has a PCM signal ? Computer radio or not has nothing to do with the modulation. All the Challengers I've seen have been PPM not PCM. PPM is what you need. If it really is fixed PCM then it won't work.

Cheers steve, your spot on. I was looking at the wrong serial No in my manual. It covers both models.
So all I need to do is make the lead right.

I still cant get fms to register a signal.
can someone please tell me the correct pin conections for the challenger & P.C. ports.

Which interface design have you made ? There are many different ones published. Does it use the parallel or serial port ?

You do know it's not just a cable, it requires a few components ?

Got it sussed now. I used the one with a transistor in it, fed to the printer port.
Im getting in some pratice with the IFO and learning to fly Heli's without the exspense.

I am using FMS with a Joystick (Microsoft 3D Pro - with all windows drivers installed), it works fine in other games, but in FMS, the plane constantly wants to dive, and I have to keep a constant light back pressure on the stick to get it to fly level. ?

First calibrate your joystick in Windows and assign it as the preferred controller. Then calibrate the joystick in FMS with the correct channel assignments. -- ggunners
