Matt Clement's Serial Interface for windows XP - can't get it to work....

Postby ThermalQuest » Wed May 22, 2002 8:48 pm

I just got one of Matt's interfaces for windows XP. I have followed his instructions to the letter to no avail. I plugged the cable into the serial port of my computer and the trainer plug of my TX. When I go to calibrate the TX, it is as if nothing is plugged in. I have tried everything I can think of and am at my wit's end!! The TX I am using is a 6 channel futaba conquest fm (have also tried the 4 channel, same results). ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance

Travis

Hi
Please note that the simple IRQ serial interface does not work with Windows 2000 or XP. :(
The solution is the PIC Serial interface. See my website for more details. :D

I too have Windows Xp, but I am using a JR radio. and I am running in to the same problem. I am starting to wonder if they do this on purpose to make money for someone else..lol
If someone could help me out I would appreciate it.

If you are having trouble with Matt's interface why not contact Matt directly as he asked ? Most people here will never have seen one of his interfaces or his instructions which makes it difficult for us to help.

I got one of his PIC interface and couldnt get it to work either.

I was on the phone with him, even sent it back for him to check it out, and he says it works great on his setup.

Matt has been very helpful, but he doesnt have the resources to test all possible variables. I am beginning to wondering if it's TX specific. I have tried it on Win 95/98/2K boxes using Futaba Conquest 4, Conquest 6 channel, and 9ZHPS. Matt tested the cable using a Futaba skysport which I dont have.

If anybody has gotten it to work with one of those TX please let us know.

Thanks,

Stephen

i'm in the same position with one of matt's cables. at first it was my fault because i didn't know that i was suppose to specify which xmtr i had so he just sent me one. now that i have the one for my vg400 i can't get it to work at all through a serial connection. i have even tried all versions of FMS. i just got it tonight on my way to work and tryed it here at work. i'm going to email him from home tomorrow and ask him about it.

i just measured the voltage output on the pin going to the pc. i only get 1.2vdc out of it. could this be our problem with the vg400, the voltage being too low?

well i got it to work but you have to hold down on the trainer button. i soldered a jumper from pin 1 to 2 on the 5 pin connector. after that i was trying to figure out how to get around holding in on the trainer button and fried my xmtr. i had a dead short somewhere now on the board on can't find it. looks like i will have to send it to airtronics and let them fix it.
