USB not reconigized, Screen lockup

Hi

I recently purchased a package containing an Airtronics 400 radio and USB cable along with the RC Simulator software but I am having two problems that maybe someone has suggestions for solving. I am running a 1.2 Mhz AMD processor with Win 2000 Pro and have a ATI Rage Magnum video card with the most updated drivers. I have tried both 16 and 32 bit color options but I am still getting system lockups with about half the models and scenery. The picture just freezes and then requires a hard reboot.

In addition, when the system first boots or after any system lockup requiring a reboot, I have to unplug and then plug back in the USB connector to get the system to recognize the Airtronics radio.
