Oh WOW!
Excellent modelling!!!! :D

I like these old russian birds... I'm looking forward to fly it in FMS!

But do I see it right, the pictures shows the 3DMax/gmax model - not the FMS model, right?

Thank you. :) Yes, you're right, it's the 3dS Max render you see. I still need to read up some more on how to make it FMS ready. When I do, you'll know. :D

I personally would simply import the file into Metasequoia and use its function to remap the texture.
I find it the most easiest way - eaven better than editing the file manually...

It's the same with Lightwave 3D, you can very easy import the Lightwave-object files into Metasequoia, lose some Texture mappings. After a small remap within Metasequoia the model is finished and can be exported as a .x-file.

Then you copy a sound file which represents the sound of your model, give it the same name as the .x-file.

The only hard part is to copy and adjust the .par-file which contains the flightmodelparameters.
For that the Pardesigner helps a lot!

Put all the files (.x , .par, .wav) into a subdirectory of FMS/model and give it the plane's name.

That's it!

If you wish I can help you with the .par-file...

Hi Lego~
Thanks for the help, but you lost me after you said how to convert to .x! LOL I'll give it a try the way you said, and hopfully, that'll work. :p

Thanks again.

Oh...

Well, I personally have never tried it with 3DS but with Lightwave. You can simply import the Lightwave-Object-files into Metasequoia (thats the 3D-modeller used for most FMS-models).
I believe you can do that also with 3DS-files (maybe as dxf?)

So when you got the geometry into Metasequoia, you just need the textures to be applied to the surfaces.
For that Metasequoia has - very similar to 3DS - a texture mapping function. It works nealy the same way.

After you model is mapped completely you can just save it to the .x-file format which can be directly used with FMS!

I've heared that there is another way, by exporting from 3DS directly into the x-file format, but then you have to do some file modifications manually due to incompatible entries in that file, when it is exported from 3DS...

I don't know which way is better...

The P-40 is great, yeah!
Maybe, you can adjust the par-file a bit to give it a bit more realistic behaviour.

But finally a really excellent job! Can't wait to see more! :D
