W2000- Where's my serial port gone?

Hi All
I loaded FMS on my laptop (Sony Viao/800mhz etc) and it runs like a dream(from the keyboard) , but on the control drop down menu I can only see 'joystick and Keyboard' . In control panel the serial port, with interface and TX connected, is there and working ok. Could it be that the network card I have installed is causing problems or is this a known W2000/FMS bug. Can't uninstall my network card as it's a my work PC and that must come first ...shame!

The parallel port and serial port interfaces do not work under Windows 2000.
