interface problem - help

I keep getting glitches when using my interface with fms
its the simple serial type and it works most the time
is there anything i can do to stop it locking up and glitching

If you don't already have a screened cable from Tx to interface then that might help. Make sure the Tx battery is well charged, low voltage can cause occasional signal drop-out that looks like glitching. Can't think of much else.

Make sure you have no software running that could be interrupting the ports, ie port monitoring or spyware, I have seen some of the spyware cause these types of problems.
