I could not get my purchased parallel interface cable working. By fate, my hardrive died, and I had to reload Windows 95 (OSR2) as well as all my software. While loading the software for my 100Mbyte external ZIP drive it occured to me that the ZIP software might be an issue. I was particularly suspicious of a ZIP utility which is supposed to speed up the parallel port. ('fast parallel port' or something along those lines). So I did not load any of the ZIP software. My parallel interface cable now works correctly, even when plugged into the printer port on the back of the ZIP drive. When I need my ZIP drive, it is my intention to simply run ZIP's 'Winguest' (not tested yet). As noted elsewhere in this forum, the parallel port is indeed somewhat unstable due to noise interference, but is otherwise very usable.
