painting in metasequaia - how can I do this?

Two ways to do it...
1, If you just want to apply block colours then create each colour in the materials panel. Select the colour you want to use. use rectangle select to highlight the area you want to colour and then choose 'set material to faces' from the 'selected' drop down menu.
2, More detailed textures require more work...
In your chosen paint package, create a canvas 256x256 with 72dpi. Paint your texture onto this adding all the detail you want on the finished plane.
In the material properties in Met, you need to click 'Ref' in the 'tex' box and find the file you have made (save it as a.bmp with the same name as your other model files). You can now apply it to the model as with a normal colour.
Once this is done click 'map'. You need to first select the face you are working on, then adjust your texture's orientation using 'pitch' and 'head' controls in the 'properties' menu. Now click 'move' and then highlight 'realtime'. You can then make the picture fit the surface using 'scale' and 'rotate' commands if necessary. Finally click 'ok' to fix the texture before moving on. A good tip is to always clear the 'realtime' box before starting again on a new face.
I have a tutorial for Met somewhere made by a Japanese chap, which I will make available on my site soon. It should make things a little clearer for you.
