FMS alpha 8.1 is a work in progress.
However, here's what we know is new based on the changes to the user interface and the .par file.
o Wind direction, speed & gusts
 o Much improved crash detection
 o More detailed plane modeling
   - thrust based on engine parameters
   - lift/control based on wing/control surface geometry
   - model taxi on ground with steering
   - lift, drag and moment exposed for various attack angles
   - gas tank and battery capacity, can run out
   - accurate gas plane throttle cut-off, will not restart
   - accurate electric plane throttle cut-off, will restart
   - much improved flight modeling at ground level
o can mix control channels, see Diamant model .par
Very nice improvements. Working on .par file conversion options from beta 7 to alpha 8. Right now most of the wing (surface) geometry numbers are available within the .MQO file while the thrust, weight and angle numbers are within the beta 7 .par file. It'd seem a combination of both should be able to generate a new alpha 8 .par file that would be a starting point for further manual revisions.
