SS model for 2.8

Postby gigelus2k3 » Fri Apr 23, 2004 12:57 am

Hello,

Are there any 2.8 compatible models for GWS's SlowStick? I found some for 2.7, but 2.8 has wind control and I would like to improve my skills for less than perfect flying conditions (the SS is sensitive to winds above 10mph).

Thank you,

Serban

gigelus2k3,

Haven't seen one yet. If you find a download of the slowstick for 2.7 beta with an attached .mqo file, I'll work up a new 2.8 .par file for you. We'll then need to get permission from the model creator to release it to the world. Shouldn't really be an issue. Lots of caring people out there.

Hello,

I'm using a version for which I couldn't find the author notice or the place I downloaded from. I settled on it because its model settings are closer to what I experience in the field.

Another, good enough, can be found . It does come with the metasequoia file.

So you're saying that the only incompatibility between 2.7 (I mean FMS2.0beta7) and 2.8 is the .par file format?

Thank you.

yes one of the major differences between beta 7 and beta 8 are the par files..beta 8 is way more complex and as more realistic than the beta 7 version..plane formats and things are still the same.

You can find a good rendition of the SlowStick on . It's a brand new .par file for alpha8.

This is Shinichiro Nishiya's .mqo model

ggunners,

I downloaded your rendition, but when FMS starts I get a few errors relating to the par file. The errors in the order they show:

Error in file FKstick.PAR on line 1:
Bad Version Information

Error in file FKstick.PAR on line 1:
Unknown model type: Assuming type AIRPLANE.

What can I do to fix this? The model when the program loads after I click OK in the error dialogs, is on the ground with no landing gear and won't respond to controls.

Thanks,
...Thomas

ThomasK,

My .par file for FMS 2 alpha 8 is called FKStick8.par. The FKStick.par is for version 7 and you will get those errors if you try to load a beta7 within alpha8. Try it again using the correct .par.

ok I figured out my problem... you cannot have beta 7 and alpha 8 installed at the same time.. it was reading everything from the beta 7 install.

ok got that fixed, and got it reinstalled. Now, I own the slowstick, and I don't have ailerons. Is there a way to remove them from the alpha 8 model you have? I thought I noticed a comment that said to change line 5 to 0, which I did for the beta 7, but the comment said it was not applicable for alpha 8.

Thanks,
...Thomas

ThomasK,

Just change the rudder (//Fläche Nr. 4 Surface number 4, rudder) and steering wheel (rear tail wheel) to channel (Kanal) 1 instead of channel 3. I use channel 3 for 3 channel radio support where all steering either aileron or rudder is on the right stick.

See post above, change channel (Kanal) 3 to channel 1 for both the rudder (Flächen) and WHEEL sections by editing the .par file with Windows Notepad.

WING //Flächen (surfaces)
//Fläche Nr. 4 Surface number 4, rudder, channel 1
3 //Kanal (channel)

WHEEL //Fahrwerkspunkte (Räder) (points of chassis - wheels)
-0.6811 0 0.06 //Position [m] (position rear tail wheel)
1200 //Federkonstante [N/m] (spring constant)
20 //Dämpfung [N*s/m] (damping)
80 //Bruchkraft [N] (breaking load)
0 1 0 //Achsvektor (axis vector)
0.18 //Reibungskoeffizient in Spurrichtung [-] coefficient of friction trace direction)
0.7 //Reibungskoeffizient quer zur Spurrichtung [-] (coeff. of fric. transverse direction)
3 //Kanal (channel)
-20 //maximaler Ausschlag [°] (maximum deflection of the wheel when steering)
