Can't get a joystick to work at all

How is your joystick connected to your computer? USB or gameport or something else?

Does Windows see your joystick correctly? Go to Control Panel / Game Controllers and see if your joystick is working correctly there. You ought to get that working first.

I had the same problem I tried what phildc put up Joystick.exe
then I went to ligitech's web site and they mentioned updating to active x8. taking me to microsoft's site. then in fms>controls>analog>mapping=I had to jostle a couple numbers around because the throttle was the left aileron.

I don't know specifically what did the trick but something took
