interface a microprocessor to the joystick port - trainer-to-joystick port

Postby Boxed » Tue Jan 28, 2003 5:23 pm

To calibrate the interface in windows you do not need a button on the interface, windows tells you to press a button on the joystick but you can also press the space bar or the enter key.

To programm my rc2joy interface, i used the ponyprog software, it can be found here:

But Avreal can also read the atmel, just look in the manual, the switch option is -r.

Cheers, Richard

I have found that unclicking "poll with interupts enabled" in the "port driver assignment" in the "gaming options" in win 98 completly got rid of glitches from version 1.2 that i use :)

Worth a try. Sorry dont have version 1???

Hello,
Yes, Joy at last as I finally got my rc2joy working. The cause of my no response problem was because the FBPRG programmer & AvReal software for programming the ATMEL chip didn't work properly on my computer.
For those of you on a shoe string budget like me, I manage to locate an update and confirm working version of the FBPRG "componentless" programmer. Ok, not totally componentless, you need 3pcs 220ohm resistor. The site is at "http://www.qsl.net/ba1fb/". The site also provides a free programming software.

Thanks so much to Boxed for his help in getting my rc2joy interface working.

I am also experiencing the glitches that everyone is experiencing with ver 1.2 of the rc2joy firmware when using the rc2joy on FMS and RealFlight. But on my system the glitches caused both simulation to be unflyable.

On top of the glitch problem I also notice I do not have full stick travel on all the 4 channel -noticable on one side only. For example on the throttle channel, I can fully open the control (100%) but I cannot fully close the control (30%). Same with the other 3 channel. Tried to recalibrate the transmitter but no success. Anyone experience this problem? Please advise.

Thanks.

Hello,
Anyone have any idea about the control travel problem I am experiencing with my rc2joy interface. Or am I the only one? Sorry guys.

Also does anyone knows where I can get Firmware Ver 1.0 for rc2joy.

Cheers.

i have noticed that rc2joy will behave in "odd" manners if i leave my external power supply off by mistake (even though windows will recognise it by showing "OK" in the control panel).
i can only suggest trying an external power source (as also suggested by boxed) if u havent already.

Goodluck.

Hi Solo,
Afer my offline discussion with Boxed we concluded that I did not need an external power source on my rc2joy. So my rc2joy circuit is based on one without external power source. Okay, I will try attaching the external power source.

What version of the rc2joy firmware are you using? Know where I can get hold of version 1.0

Cheers,
Kim

Hi,
I tried to use external power source. Same problem experienced as before.

Anyway I tried to fiddle with the ATV setting on my Futaba Radio. Some improvement on the controls travel but still not perfect. Experiencing lots of glitche an uncontrolable heli. Must say I had better control on the FMS parallel cable.

Any other idea?

Cheers,

is it possible for u try it on a computer with win me or 98 or 95. there were some issues about "older" joysticks in general working with xp.

OR

perhaps someone could confirm this works with xp.

i know that rc2joy works fine with winMe ,98 and 95 from my own experience.

sorry cant think of anything else.

Hi all,

it's a little while ago since i checked this forum, i was a little surprised to see this thread this active again :)

A little while ago i emailed a couple of times with yuri vanin (the maker of the rc2joy) and he told me that the glitches are caused by the interrupts in the 1.2 software. The old version of the software (1.0) doesn't use these interrupts en therefore doesn't glitch.

While programming my rc2joy, i locked the controller from reading the software, so i cannot read the old software from the controller. I there is anyone with a rc2joy with software version 1.0, maybe he can read the software from it and post it somewere.

Hi again,
Anyone out there who has working copy of rc2joy Ver 1.0 willing to share their hex files please respond. I am pretty desperate at this stage already. :-)

I tried to email Yuri but never got a reply back from him. Was thinking maybe he has a copy since he was the designer.

Hope to hear from someone soon.

Cheers.
